This year, all funds raised during the Annual Appeal will seed theBeverly Stanton McKenna Scholarshipfor people of color pursuing careers in journalism and communications. The threat of fewer minorities working in media is real–even as the FCC reported that African-Americans are losing ground in media ownership1, chairman Julius Genachowski wants to relax laws so that moguls like Rupert Murdoch can control more TV stations, newspapers and radio stations2.
